Results of the recently completed Boys and Girls Champs held at the National Stadium
St. Elizabeth Technical High School secured overall, a 5th position in the boys’ events and an 8th position in the girls’ events. The results were as follows:

STETHS Track and Field (2013-2014).

.Major Achievements.
1. .The girls’ team was placed second at the Western Cross Country Championship..

2. .The boys’ team was placed second at the Western Cross Country Championship.

3. .At the Western relays, STETHS boys and girls had six top 3 finishes with the best being the winner of the 4 by 400m open for boys and Okeen Williams ran a meet record of 52.24 seconds to win the 400m hurdles open for boys..

4. .STETHS girls continued their dominance at the Western Championship, as they defended their title, while the boys’ team was placed a creditable second, losing the championship by a mere 5 points..

5. .At the prestigious Gibson relays, the girls’ team made 3 out of the a possible 5 events that they contested and was placed in the top 3 in one of those 3 finals. The boys’ team did not participate due to the flu..

6. .At the recently held Carifta trials, which is used as selection for the Jamaican team, STETHS had 4 girls in the top 3 in their event. Junelle Bromfield won the under 18 800m and was placed second in the 1500m. Sah-jay Stevens won the under 18 javelin. Alethia McLaughlin was placed second in the under 20 3000m, while Chantai Smith was placed second and third in the under 20 800m and 1500m respectively.
On the boys’ team, 5 boys finished in the top 3: Okeen Williams won the under 20 400m hurdles, while Marvin Williams was placed second. Marvin was also placed second in the under 20 boys 110m hurdles. Orlando Smith was placed third in the under 18 400m hurdles and fourth in the under 18 110m hurdles. Nigel Ellis was also placed second in the under 18 400m final..

7. .The team will depart on March 23, 2014 to participate at the Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championship where they will try to better their seventh place finish from last year.
